The lake is about two acres in size and ranges from four to ten feet deep in some places, making it a beginner-friendly destination. It’s also stocked with a wide variety of fish, including carp that weigh up to 25 lbs.
The pond offers its visitors a secure car park and easy access to a peg for the elderly and the disabled. The all-around walkway makes it possible to enjoy the scenery as well. The management plans to overhaul the fishery, so expect more facilities and a better fishing experience.
Before being allowed to fish, you must become a member. Tickets cost £30 per year, which makes this lake one of the cheapest destinations in the United Kingdom. They can be obtained from the Killingworth Leisure Center. However, night fishing is reserved for members of one year or more.

2. Killingworth Lakes

Killingworth Lakes are also managed by Ryton & District Angling Club in affiliation with Tyne Anglers Alliance. There are two lakes: the Killingworth Small and Killingworth Large, each containing a healthy stock of a variety of fish, including common carp. Killingworth Large is developing into a good fishery, so consider making it your first choice.
The fishery is located at Killingworth, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12 6SA. Their carp size easily exceeds 20 lbs, and the lakes offer easy access for the disabled and elderly, toilet facilities, and secure parking.
Tickets are available from the Killingworth Leisure Centre and White Swan Centre. They cost £4 per day. You can also join the club for a yearly ticket, costing £30. You must arrange night fishing beforehand. Note that there are several rules you must abide by, especially concerning night fishing.

3. Angel of the North Fishing Lakes

Angel of the North Fishing Lakes, located on Bassetts Lookout, Birtley, DH3 1RF, Durham, is a three-lake fishery situated on 64 acres of secluded, picturesque farmland. Bassetts is a novice and family-friendly coarse lake that offers 14 pegs.
However, Bowes, with its 40 pegs, should be your destination if you want to fish carp, as 70% of it is common, mirror, and leather carp.
The fishery also offers many services and facilities, including livery services, toilets, and an on-site snackery. It also provides a secure tack, tool, and feed store. Security-wise, there are many CCTVs installed around the fishery grounds.
You must purchase tickets at reception before noon. Regular tickets cost £15, while those for concessions and the disabled cost £13. An extra rod costs £8. You can also buy seasonal tickets for a year-round anytime-entry for £475. They cost £400 for the disabled and the concession category.

4. Stephensons Lake

Stephensons Lake, managed by the Hetton Lyons Angling Club, is located at Hetton-le-Hole, Houghton le Spring, DH5 0RH. The club is dedicated to coarse fishing in the north. As such, the lake is well stocked with a variety of coarse fish, including carp that weigh over 20 lbs.
Stephensons Lake has a dedicated car park and 26 pegs, ten of which cater to the disabled and elderly. It’s situated in the proximity of the Hetton Lyons Country Park. Expect picturesque views and vivid greenery.
The lake can be accessed via day tickets bought online or through your club membership. Day tickets cost £3 for juniors and £5 for adults. Make sure you keep evidence of payment and read your emails before fishing, as a bailiff may check if you have a valid ticket. Lyons Lake is also managed by the Hetton Lyons Angling Club. Located near Stephensons Lake at Hetton-le-Hole, Houghton le Spring, DH5 0RH, the lake is members-only and stocked with a variety of carp that weigh up to 23 lbs.
The lake offers a secure car park a short walk away. Although there are no designated pegs, the lake is surrounded by easy-to-access walkways going through gorgeous greenery, and you can fish anywhere you want.
Night fishing is also allowed. However, day and night fishing are reserved for members, so you must join the club before gaining access to this lake. Membership costs range from £3 to £30, depending on the number of members included and their ages.
